C. Madeleines

Recognized worldwide, C. Madeline’s is more than just a high-end showroom/vintage consignment store, it’s a vault of fashion history. C. Madeline’s is known to many designers and stylists as a source of fashion inspiration. Owner Madeleine Kirsh, a former interior decorator with a trained eye for fashion brought it all together and opened up her first store in Palm Spring, FL. The store quickly gained an international following of designers, stylists, and celebrities giving her no choice but to take the next logical step and take Miami by storm. Kirsh found a spellbinding 10,000 square foot space located on Biscayne Boulevard in North Miami Beach. She knew at first sight that the space was the key to fulfill her dream of creating the world’s largest vintage showroom. Kirsh worked her magic and created what many today the ‘wonderland of fashion.’ Hand picking every garment and showcasing designs from the last 10 decades, C. Madeleine’s was born.

MOUNTAIN OF TEXTILES IN HONG KONG

A sixteen foot mountain was displayed in Hong Kong’s Central Star Ferry Pier to represent the 253 tons of textile wasted by its civilians each day. This mountain only represented three percent of the waste! Actress Carrie Lam stated, “Most people don’t realize that Hong Kong has over 190 used-clothes recycling banks where they can donate their unwanted clothes and textiles for recycling rather than sending them to landfills.” Redress, a nonprofit organization, is trying to bring awareness by exhibiting upcycled garments created by up and coming eco friendly designers. Unfortunately the amount of waste has increased over the years but hopefully Redress brings insights to bring numbers down.

CASUAL GLAM

Say ‘Au revoir’ to boring white t-shirts because they’re not allowed in Mr. Poulet’s playground. Mr. Poulet designs graphic shirts made of organic cotton and is a playful dialogue between the charming insouciant and our inner child. A quirky mix of t-shirts, sweaters, accessories and kid’s clothing, Mr. Poulet is a destination store for French arbiters of graphic coolness. Girls and boys, don’t take yourselves so seriously when you wear Mr. Poulet. Instead, sport a fake moustache and declare that even grownups can display childlike behavior for the sake of lighthearted fashion.

GREEN FASHION COLLABORATIONS OF THE SUMMER

This summer well known brands collaborated with great environmental causes to bring awareness to different issues. First of all, CrĂ©me de la Mer joined Oceana just in time for World’s Ocean Day and were able to contribute $200,000 to the charity. Vivienne Westwood once again collaborated with the ITC’s Ethical Fashion Africa Project announcing that she would donate all the sales from the bags. Asos relaunched their Asos Africa collection helping develop jobs in impoverished regions, and even though Kate Middleton is not involved with any specific green issue, if she were to wear an eco-friendly piece ensemble from her favorite retailer, Whistles, she would bring awareness.
